Fidelity Bank Plc Announces New Board Appointments

Fidelity Bank Plc has revealed the addition of three new members to its Board of Directors, following approval from the Central Bank of Nigeria. The appointments, which come into effect on January 14, 2025, were recently announced through a regulatory filing on the corporate disclosure portal of NGX Regulation Limited.

The appointees are Abdullahi Mohammed, who has been named as an Independent Non-Executive Director, Obiaku Okam as a Non-Executive Director, and Sufiyanu Garba as an Executive Director.

With over 36 years of experience in financial services, public administration, and human resources development, Alhaji Mohammed has previously held senior leadership positions at First Bank of Nigeria Plc and Polaris Bank Limited.

Obiaku Okam, currently serving as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Skycurve Nigeria Limited, boasts more than 30 years of expertise in banking, financial services, real estate, and retail. Her professional journey includes key roles at Zenith Bank Plc and Citibank.

Sufiyanu Garba’s career spans more than three decades, during which he has gained extensive multifunctional and cross-border experience. He has contributed to the success of leading institutions like Access Bank Plc, Union Bank of Nigeria Plc, and Keystone Bank Limited.

Speaking on the appointments, Mustafa Chike-Obi, Chairman of Fidelity Bank, expressed confidence in the new board members, stating, “The Board is pleased to welcome these accomplished individuals. Their vast expertise will greatly enhance the Bank’s strategic initiatives and growth ambitions.”
