Governor Eno Asks Former Commissioners to Continue After EXCO Dissolution
At a valedictory meeting held on January 10, 2025, Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State officially dissolved the State Executive Council (EXCO), but instructed several former commissioners to continue their vital work despite the dissolution. During the meeting, which took place at the EXCO Chambers of the Governor’s Office in Uyo, the Governor expressed satisfaction with the council’s performance and commended members for their service to the state.
Notable decisions included extending the lifespan of key committees, such as those focused on local business support, power development, and hospital revitalization. Additionally, Governor Eno delegated responsibilities to specific commissioners, including the Commissioner for Women Affairs, who was given authority to act on outstanding ministry events.
The dissolution comes after the council deliberated on several important reports, including proposals for a Power Summit and a Corporate Akwa Ibom Summit. Despite the changes, the Governor made it clear that former commissioners would continue contributing to the state’s progress.
