Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has been named Governor of the Year at the prestigious ThisDay Newspaper Awards, held earlier this week in Lagos. The award recognizes his administration’s commitment to good governance, infrastructural development, and the overall progress of Akwa Ibom State.
Governor Eno, in his acceptance speech, dedicated the award to his Deputy, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, all former governors of the state, and particularly his predecessor, Deacon Udom Emmanuel, whom he described as his “political father.” He credited Udom’s belief in him as instrumental to his leadership journey.
The recognition comes amid controversy surrounding a reported probe into state affairs, sparking political discussions within Akwa Ibom’s leadership circles. However, Governor Eno’s tribute to his predecessor and deputy is seen as a strong message of unity and continuity within the state’s political structure.
Emphasizing his administration’s commitment to sustainable development under the ARISE Agenda, Governor Eno reassured Akwa Ibom citizens of his dedication to delivering progressive governance.
