MTN Nigeria has issued a public apology to its customers following widespread backlash over the sudden 200% increase in the cost of its 15GB digital bundle plan.
In a statement shared on its official Instagram page on Thursday, the telecommunications company admitted to making an error in price adjustment and appealed for forgiveness. MTN acknowledged the frustration caused by the unexpected hike and reassured customers of its commitment to improved service.
Addressing affected subscribers directly, the company stated:
“To our 15GB digital bundle users,
“We understand your frustration.”
“Waking up to a 200% price increase on your favorite digital bundle must have been upsetting.”
“We could give explanations, but at the end of the day, we acknowledge our mistake.”
Recognizing the importance of customer loyalty, MTN urged subscribers to move past the issue, especially during the Valentine’s season. The company emphasized its appreciation for its customers, promising continued efforts to demonstrate their value.
“In this season of love, let’s not stay upset. Please forgive and forget. You mean a lot to us, and we will always show you how much.”
