Nigerian Army Urges Public to Rely on Verified Information to Avoid Panic

The Nigerian Army’s Joint Task Force Northwest Operation, Fansan Yamma, has urged the public to rely only on verified information to prevent the spread of misinformation and unnecessary panic concerning its activities.

This call was made in a statement released late Wednesday by Lt. Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, the Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre for Operation Fansan Yamma.

The statement addressed allegations circulating in the media that a military fighter jet bombed civilian structures in Silame Local Government Area, Sokoto State. Lt. Colonel Abdullahi clarified that these reports were unfounded and do not reflect the facts surrounding the Joint Task Force’s operations.

“The public is encouraged to seek information from credible sources and avoid sharing unverified reports that could lead to unnecessary fear or disrupt public confidence in our operations,” the statement read.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of citizens while conducting its operations across the Northwest region. It also emphasized the importance of collaboration between the military and the public in combating misinformation and achieving lasting peace in the area.

Operation Fansan Yamma continues to focus on addressing security challenges in the region, working towards restoring normalcy and fostering trust within affected communities.
